The purpose of these modes is not to add friction for its own sake. It is to preserve ownership of the reasoning. The system can carry routine cognitive load while helping the person see assumptions, compare paths, and understand why a decision holds.
Over time, the measure of success changes. We do not ask only whether the task was completed. We ask whether the collaboration expanded what the human can notice, understand, and create next.
AI shouldn’t replace human thinking. It should augment it.
